Oppose IL HB2425/SB1336 which threaten endangered species
Email your IL Senator & Representative
Right now, protections for endangered and threatened species in Illinois are under attack.
Anti-wildlife members of the Illinois State Legislature, emboldened by the Trump administration and its Big Ag and fossil fuel allies, are fighting hard to gut the Illinois Endangered Species Protection Act.
If we don’t stop them, it could spell trouble for monarch butterflies, owls, birds, turtles, and other imperiled wildlife.
Tell the Army Corps that You Oppose the Mine!
The Trump administration is recklessly rushing the approval of the Pebble Mine, the highly controversial gold and copper mine proposed for Alaska’s pristine Bristol Bay. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recently released a draft environmental impact statement that completely ignores potential catastrophic wildlife destruction and impacts to local commercial fisheries. You can put pressure on the Army Corps by telling them to reject the Pebble Mine proposal.

Restore vital protections for Alaska’s pristine Arctic Refuge.
The long-fought battle to protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge — our nation’s greatest wildlife sanctuary — is heating up on Capitol Hill. Right now, a new bill is moving through Congress that would block the Trump administration’s disastrous plan to allow destructive oil exploration and drilling in the Arctic Refuge and restore protections to this pristine wild place. Legislation is the only surefire way to protect the Arctic Refuge permanently from fossil fuel development. We need your help to mobilize massive public pressure on every representative in Congress to support this critical bill.

OPPOSE oil lobbyist David Bernhardt for Secretary of the Interior.
Sen. Tammy Duckworth: (202) 224-2854 Sen. Dick Durbin: (202) 224-2152
Trump is trying to force his most conflicted cabinet nominee yet through the Senate confirmation process. Trump’s nominee for Interior Secretary is a former fossil fuel lobbyist and a walking conflict of interest.
David Bernhardt used to represent the same oil and gas interests that want to mine and drill in our National Monuments and gut our endangered species protections. Now, he has been nominated to run the Department of the Interior — the agency that oversees oil and gas leasing on our public lands and waters. If confirmed, he’ll surely continue Trump’s plan to destroy Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments. Bernhardt served as former Interior Secretary Zinke’s number two before Zinke was forced to resign last year. During that time, Bernhardt’s former fossil fuel industry clients began receiving favorable decisions from the Department of the Interior.

This event is a great way to learn the ropes at the Capitol with other Illinoisans who share your desire to see our state lead the way into the clean energy future. Lobby days have been vital in passing important environmental policies in past years (including the Future Energy Jobs Act), and it’s more important than ever that we make sure state legislators hear our concerns loud and clear. To make sure we are heard, we will be rallying in front of the Capitol building at noon!
CALL: Sen. Tammy Duckworth: (202) 224-2854 Sen. Dick Durbin: (202) 224-2152
Rep. Brad Schneider: DC- (202) 225-4835 Lincolnshire- (847) 383-4870
Our planet doesn’t have any more time to waste: we need serious climate action now, whether McConnell and his pro-polluter allies want it or not. The Green New Deal resolution and its strong call for climate action have generated undeniable enthusiasm for climate action across the country. We must make sure climate change is this new Congress’s top priority: Urge your senators and representative to heed this call and support strong legislation that will help move us to 100% clean energy, repair our infrastructure, protect our air, water, and lands from President Trump’s attacks, expand our clean energy economy, and avert climate catastrophe.
Tell Trump’s DOE: Protect energy efficiency standards
- help cut carbon emissions
- reduce consumers’ utility bills
- stave off climate catastrophe
Trump and his Department of Energy (DOE) want to drastically weaken two critical energy efficiency initiatives that save consumers billions in energy costs and slash millions of tons of carbon pollution per year. NRDC is fighting back on all fronts and will take the fight to court if necessary.
Join us in urging the EPA to reject Trump and Wheeler’s disastrous plan to dismantle the Waste Prevention Rule, which regulates methane emissions, at the expense of our public health, clean air, and climate. President Trump and Acting EPA Administrator Andrew Wheeler are proposing to weaken common-sense rules that stop the oil and gas industries from unnecessarily leaking massive amounts of climate-warming methane gas. This is a blatant giveaway to oil and gas interests at the expense of the American people, our clean air, our public health, and the future of our planet.
Call on the EPA to reject Trump and Wheeler’s reckless rollback and protect us from methane gas.
Email President Trump & EPA Wheeler to stop climate-saving methane regulations roll-back.
