What do I need to do to complete a witness slip

  1. You need to create a free account on the Illinois General Assembly website.
  2. You need to be signed in to the account every time you complete a witness slip.

How do I create an account on my.ilga.gov?

  1. Go to my.ILGA.gov.
  2. Click on the Register button located on the left side of the screen.
  3. Type a valid email address and password. The password is case-sensitive and needs to be a minimum of 6 characters in length. Type the password again to confirm it.
  4. Click in the box next to “I Agree to the ILGA Terms of Agreement”.
  5. Click “Register”.
  6. When Register is clicked, a confirmation screen displays.
  7. Go to your email inbox and open the verification email that you receive.
  8. Click the second link in order to verify your email address is correct.
  9. A Verification Success screen displays once your email is verified.
  10. Click the link to log on.

How do I log on to my my.ILGA.gov account?

  1. Go to my.ILGA.gov.
  2. Click in the top, right-hand corner of ILGA Dashboard to log on to your secured account.
  3. Type your email address and password and click “Log On”.

How do I complete a Witness Slip?

  1. When you are signed in you should navigate to the legislation in which you have an interest. Usually this means following a link you have been provided.
  2. Most of your identity information should already populate the witness slip.
  3. Under II. Representation, merely indicate “self,” or “taxpayer,” or “none” unless you do, in fact represent a group, club or organization
  4. Under III Position, choose the correct version of the legislation to which you are interested. The default may be the original bill but the drop down may offer you later amendments.
  5. Indicate your position as a proponent or opponent of the legislation.
  6. Under IV Testimony select “Record of Appearance Only.”
  7. Be sure to select “submit witness slip.”
  8. You will receive a confirming email.
