NWSOFA/Indivisible Fiscal Meeting @ Arlington Heights Library | Arlington Heights | Illinois | United States

The NWSOFA Fiscal and Economics group had some great discussions on January 16th at the Arlington Heights library.  Let’s keep up the momentum with our next meeting in Schaumburg on Monday, February 17th beginning at 7 pm.

The mission of the Fiscal and Economic issues group is to help participants understand the economic and budgetary facts at the federal and state level, to help them sharpen their arguments and communicate to their audience, directly or via social media. The co-leads prepare a comprehensive presentation monthly using data from definitive sources, and the presentation and discussion is often filmed and shared on social media. Topics typically include trends in key economic variables, budget deficits, income inequality, healthcare, and key topics in the news.

Some data releases expected before our February meeting include:

1) The January employment report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).  This report is expected to revise down the job gains in 2018 by 501,000.

2)  The first estimate of fourth quarter 2019 and full year real GDP growth.

The PowerPoint presentations used at our January meeting can be found at https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-8JyumqpNelN29yVU4zYlVSd1ZjUXhKOF9xM0R1UHlCYzhJ and https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-8JyumqpNelOFNuWnI3MUQ4UFV6ZVQ5aG9OV0UtX05tNFN3

Come join us. Doors open at 6:45.

After the meeting you are welcome to join us at Lou Malnati’s for further discussions, beer and pizza
